Business Award 4.0

On 7 Novembre 2021 the Milan Monza Brianza Lodi Chamber of Commerce, in the prestigious setting of the Teatro alla Scala, awarded Crearreda with the “Enterprise 4.0 Sustainability and Resilience” award.

The Chamber of Commerce awarded us the award, also called Ambrogino d’Oro per le Imprese, “to highlight the entrepreneurial experiences of excellence that have distinguished themselves for innovation and resilience, with particular regard to those entrepreneurial experiences that in the difficult months of health emergency have shown resilience and tenacity, finding new solutions that have guaranteed the continuity of economic activity“.

The coveted award was presented by the President of Confcommercio Carlo Sangalli and the rector of the Polytechnic University of Milan Ferruccio Resta.
We are proud of the award received, which certifies the quality of our organization and we are happy to be able to share it with all those who have helped us face and overcome a complex year like 2020.

Covid and Resilience

During the lockdown I (Giuseppe), my brother Francesco and my sons Paolo and Marco meet daily remotely to place a selection of our decorative products on different online sales platforms.

This type of commercial approach had always remained on the sidelines, hypothesized, but never made operational: the daily routine prevented focusing on this activity.

During a “family” meeting, the awareness emerged that there was another commercial opportunity offered to the market by the current pandemic. We realized that sooner or later it would be possible to leave the house, but with due attention and with a series of precise precautions.

Social distancing was about to become a rule to be respected and highlighted well, everywhere.

Giving instructions and keeping the public or employees informed on the precautions to be taken in the emergency period of Covid-19 would have become an obligation on the part of companies, bars, restaurants, public places and schools.

Not without logistical difficulties, since we worked from home, we designed a series of signs and posters to inform about the risks and measures to be taken to contain the spread of the pandemic. We studied explanatory packaging and displays for the points of sale, condensing an otherwise much longer job in a few days: the time was starting to be ripe for the launch of the new range.

As 30 years before, when we started, we found ourselves facing a new market, but benefited from the fact that we have an “indispensable” product.

For the sale we first approached the Cash and carry wholesalers (those specialized in selling to bars and restaurants) who immediately appreciated and understood the potential of the products.

But the real commercial breakthrough was achieved thanks to the suggestion of a friend principal, who suggested that we propose anti-Covid 19 signage on the Public Administration’s purchasing portal.

Entering the perspective of this portal was not easy, but the result was unexpected, unthinkable and, of course, welcome.

We found ourselves in a condition of an unexpected, fortuitous monopoly: almost all schools and public bodies began to give us orders, which were growing daily the closer we got to the reopening of schools and offices.

For our part, we did the impossible to cope with incoming orders: we, the owners, also worked in the warehouse, until the situation normalized and Covid left us some respite, towards September 2020.

To date, what remains of this experience, in addition to the satisfaction of having seized a business opportunity (unfortunately in a negative context such as that of the pandemic, which is still ongoing) has been the awareness of having a flexible organization and the opening of new and strategic markets for the distribution of our products.
